Home Birth Midwife on the Main Line, PA
Bucks County families know how to make deliberate choices.
The farmlands around Furlong and Newtown. The river towns of New Hope and Washington Crossing. The neighborhoods of Lower Makefield and Yardley. These are places where people opt out of the default and build something more intentional.
Home birth fits here.

About Abigail Iovine
I'm Abby. Mother of ten. Traditional midwife. Born-again Christian. Philly-area native who moved to the Lehigh Valley in 2013 and expanded into the Poconos more recently.
I've given birth ten times — four in hospital, six at home. Three of those homebirths were with a midwife. Three were unassisted. Baby ten came July 2024.
My training spanned five years under local midwifery elders, the traditional apprenticeship model that predates licensing boards and billing codes. I've been attending births professionally since 2013.
I don't just know this work. I've lived it — in the same region, with the same values, as the families I serve.
Cardinal Birth is a family-centered practice. Children are welcome at prenatals and births. We work around real life, because we know what real family life looks like.
Why Bucks County Families Choose Home Birth
For the same reason they choose the farmers market. The neighborhood school. The local business over the franchise.
They want something real.
A home birth with Cardinal Birth means laboring in your own space. Your own bed. Your own bathroom. Your dog on the floor if that's what you want.
No hospital clock. No strangers. No one in that room who doesn't belong there.
Just your people, in your home, for one of the most significant moments of your family's life.
On Legal Status in Pennsylvania
Cardinal Birth is not state-licensed. Pennsylvania has no licensing pathway for direct-entry or traditional midwives — which is its own story, one I write about extensively on my Substack.
What we are: trained, experienced, transparent, and fully committed to every family we serve.
Your birth belongs to you. Not the state. Not the hospital. You.
